Man held for threatening video shop owners

MARDAN: Police claimed here on Sunday to have arrested a person accused of sending threatening messages to local video centres and net cafes in various parts of the district through cellphon calls.

Addressing a press conference, Deputy Superintendent Police Quresh Khan said that lzhar Ali, the owner of a net cafe, informed them that he received an unidentified message on his celiphone, threatening him to close the net cafe immediately, otherwise it would be blown up.

Quresh said that the text message warned him to close the net cafe within a week or face the music.

He added that District Police Officer Akhtar Hayat Gandapur constituted a police team that found that Jehanzeb of Kas Kuroona was responsible for the act.

The police officer said that two accomplices of the accused would be exposed after investigation.

He termed the arrest of Jehanzeb a big development, which would help bust the group involved in sending threats to CD shops, girl schools and vocational centres through mobile phones.
