Young journalist shot dead near Khairpur

DISTRICT KHAIRPUR, Sindh, June 17 (PPI): A young journalist was shot dead in Pir Jo Goth near here on Sunday.

Nisar Ahmed Solangi, the reporter of Sindhi newspaper Daily Khabroon, aged 30, came to Pir Jo Goth from his village Machhyoon for an urgent peace of work when two armed persons on a motorcycle opened fire, killing him on the spot.

The body was brought to Taluka Hospital Kingri for autopsy after which it was handed over to heirs.

Later, a large number of residents of Machyoon village and its adjoining areas carrying the body staged a sit-in at link road Pir Jo Goth-Khairpur. They blocked the road for two hours..

The shops and bazaras in Machyoon, Kot Mir Muhammad and Kot Pull villages were closed in protest against the murder of journalist.

DPO Khairpur Din Muhammad Baloch rushed to the scene and assured the protesters that killers would be arrested very soon. The protesters ended their demonstration.

The journalist was laid to rest at Shaheed Badshah graveyard in Machyoon Wada. A large number of people attended the funeral rites.

The journalists of Khairpur and its adjoining held a protest demonstration in Pir Jo Goth and strongly condemned the murder of journalist.

The relatives of deceased told newsmen that Nisar Solangi was killed by dacoit Naboo Junejo as tribal feud between Junejo and Solangi clans was going on.
