Mahesh Bhatt applauds the ‘rise and rise and rise of Humayun Saeed’

Bollywood veteran Mahesh Bhatt is known for giving credit where it’s due, even if it means appreciating Pakistani artists. He has not only worked with them but has been extremely supportive to stars such as Humaima Malick, Shaan Shahid and Mawra Hocane. This time, Bhatt has extended his good wishes to none other than Humayun Saeed.

The Raaz film-maker recently lauded the local actor’s last two ventures, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani (JPNA) and Punjab Nahi Jaungi. And as Saeed’s JPNA 2 is excelling at the box-office, Bhatt took to social media on Friday to sing praises for the film’s protagonist. “The rise and the rise and the RISE of Humayun Saeed!,” he posted.

To this, Humayun promptly responded, “Thank you, Bhatt sahab. Izzat aur shohrat sab Allah ke hath main hai (Fame and respect are gifts of God). Love you, sir.”

Back in 2015, when the first JPNA came out, Bhatt flew to Lahore to attend its premiere upon Saeed’s request. It was then rumoured that the duo were planning to work together on a film called Dushman, hoping to bring India and Pakistan closer in the thick of strained relations.

Although that project never happened, Saeed has clearly succeeded in grasping people’s attention, even across the border.

Earlier, despite the ban, Bhatt tried to bring Pakistani artistes back to India. According to a report in DNA, he apparently approached Ali Zafar and offered him a song on the theme of cross-border peace. The Channo singer reportedly agreed to it ‘enthusiastically.’

Bhatt then talked to former Fuzon front-man Shafqat Amanat Ali who also jumped on board. But the song, unfortunately, never got released.
