Lecture meetings to honour senior most editors

KARACHI- The first in the series of lecture meetings to honour the senior most editors on job in Pakistan, hosted by the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE), will be held in Karachi.

The speaker will be M. A. Zuberi, Editor of the Business Recorder. Zuberi will speak on the subject: “My years in journalism – In retrospect”.

The programme for this first in the series of lecture meetings by the CPNE includes introduction by vice president of the CPNE, followed by address of the CPNE President Mujib-ur-Rahman Shami welcoming M A Zuberi, followed by address by Secretary General Zahid Malik, highlighting the programme of lecture meetings being arranged by the CPNE for the senior most editors on the job in Pakistan.

The lecture by M A Zuberi will then be followed by a question-answer session and the lecture meeting will close with a vote of thanks to the speaker by Senior Vice President of the CPNE Jamil Athar.

It may be mentioned here that the second speaker in this series will be Majeed Nizami, Editor-in-Chief of the Nawa-e-Waqt and The Nation, and this lecture meeting will take place under CPNE auspices in Lahore in early April.

A large number of editors and persons associated with the media are expected to attend the lecture meeting by M A Zuberi.

He will recount his journey through over five decades of journalism starting from New Delhi before partition and then in Pakistan over past fifty-five years.

These lecture meetings are being arranged by the CPNE to honour the elder-editor members of the CPNE who have contributed to the growth and strength of the nation and a free press in Pakistan keeping with the ideals enshrined in the Constitution of the CPNE.
