Killing of media people in Iraq war resented

PESHAWAR- The Peshawar-based journalists have expressed sever resentment over killing of media people in the ongoing Iraq war and urged the United States forces to ensure protection to the journalists.

On the call of Khyber Union of Journalists, the media people on April 3, 2003 arranged a demonstration in front of Peshawar Press Club.

Led by Khyber Union of Journalists President Javed Aziz Khan, the journalists holding banners and placards in their hands chanted slogans against war and in favour of peace. They resented the United States policies of ignoring its promises and commitments with the international community.

The protesting journalists, while showing resentment over killing of their colleagues in Baghdad and other parts of Iraq, also asked for an end to bombing and shelling of the civilian population in Iraq. They demanded of the UN Security Council to fulfill its due role in protecting lives and properties of the civilians. Later, on the protesters dispersed, peacefully.
