FM-104 in Sialkot by month-end

SIALKOT- The district government and the management of Buraq Radio FM-104 on April 4, 2003 signed an agreement for the establishment of a radio station near Jinnah Stadium.

The radio station is being established by the local private sector under the supervision of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).

District Sports Officer Nasir Ali and Buraq Radio marketing manager Mohammad Umar Rafi signed the agreement at district Nazim’s office. The company’s chairman, Commodore Qaisar Mehmood (retired), District Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid, District Coordination Officer (DPO) Zahid Saeed and other district government officials were also present on the occasion. Under the agreement, the district government would lease out land for the radio station.

Speaking at a press conference here, Commodore Mehmood and Mr Rafi claimed that the company had invested Rs. 4 million in the project. They said that the range of FM-104 transmission would be 60km, and it would be listened in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir and across the border in India. They said that the radio would start regular transmission by the end of April.

Nazim Mian Naeem said that the Buraq FM-104 was a totally digital radio station. Besides being a source of entertainment and information, the radio would provide an interactive audio encyclopaedia through community participation. It would be a platform for people to discuss what is important in their lives, he added.
