KARACHI: The Sindhi print media is mourning the martyrdom of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and all Sindh language newspapers, including Kawish, Ibrat, Awami Awaz, Sindh and others have dedicated all their pages to this historic tragedy.

“Shaheed Bhutto’s Pinky sacrificed her life for the restoration of democracy,” Daily Kawish said in the catch line of its lead story.

Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, an international politician, belongs to Sindh and after her martyrdom, Sindh has seen the worst violence ever with people mourning her as if she were a close relative, wrote the Ibrat.

All Sindhi language newspapers referred to her as ‘martyred’, something that was missing in some Urdu newspapers. “Her popularity was not limited only to the election but she ruled the hearts of millions and with her sacrifice, after Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s martyrdom, the masses of this country are indebted to her,” Kawish’s editorial said.

Awami Awaz said in its editorial that her assassination was the second most high profile event in Pakistan after the killings of Shaheed ZAB. “The killing of innocent people in Liaquat Bagh after BB’s assassination is a clear message to the masses that they must not gather around popular leaders in Pakistan,” it Awami Awaz.

Recalling the deaths of ZA Bhutto, Shahnawaz Bhutto, Mir Murtaza Bhutto, Ibrat questioned what Benazir Bhutto gained on her return? The Ibrat was also critical of the security lapses.
