Journalists playing key role in progress, uplift: Iftikhar
Media supporting govt on national issues
PESHAWAR: Minister for Information, Culture and Transport Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that journalists community was playing a key role in the progress and development of the province.
He said this in a meeting with delegation of three representative media groups of Haripur inclduing Liberal Union of Journalists, Haripur Press Club and Union of Journalists and District Press Club and Union of Journalists which called on the minister here on Sunday.
The delegation comprises Liberal Union of Journalist’s Naeem Abid, (President), Malik Muhammad Iqbal (General Secretary), Malik Faisal Iqbal (Sr. Vice President) and Haji Abdul Rasheed (Vice Chairman), Dirstrict Press Club and Union’s Hanif Akhtar (President Ppress club), Hafiz Muhammad Zubair (President Union), Jamil Ahmed Malik, Zakar Tanoli and Haripur Press Club and Union’s Khanzada Amjad (President Press Club), Qasim Qaim, Mushraf Hazarvi, and Naseem Awan. At the occasion Director Information KP Muhammad Shoaib and Dy: Director information Hazara Muhammad Tayyab were also present.
Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that media always played role of an eye and ear for the government and local administration as well and if media kept on playing its role positively than it would become easier for the administration to overcome the public issues and other hardships.Mian Iftikhar Hussain appreciated the role of media in the war against terrorsim. He hailed the media role in in unveiling the real face of the terrorists and isolating them in the society.
Media persons also rendered matchless sacrifices in the war against terror, Iftikhar added. Due to the support of the media on important national issues, the government had succeeded in getting provincial autonomy, besides getting remarkable achievements in the war against terrors, he maintained. Delegation of the journalist informed the minister regarding their issues which they were facing. The Information Minister said that the problems of the journalist community would be solved on priority basis and all facilities would be provided to them but all groups should remove their internal differences/divisions.
Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain urged upon the all journalist group to be uniteed to serve the country and nation in fruitful manners as the difference and divisions.To resolve the differences among different journalist groups KhyberPukhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain directed to constitute a five members committee under the supervision of Director Information KPK Muhammad Shoiab and comprising other members Dy: Director Information Hazara Muhammad Tayyab and three senior journalists from Peshawar and Abbottabad.
Delegation’s members also paid thanks to Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain for taking interest in their issues and to ensure them for provision of facilities to journalists of Haripur.
