Journalist manhandled
MIRPURKHAS: A landlord along with his armed men manhandled a journalist and tried to kidnap him on gun-point in Ghulam Nabi Shah Town of sub-division Pithoro, some 40 k.m from here on Thursday.
The landlord was reportedly furious over a news item regarding bonded labours at his agri-lands.
According to details, Sarwan Kumar, correspondent of a Sindhi daily ‘Alak’ was attacked by area landlord Haji Umer Mangrio and his armed men, who tried to to kidnap him. The Journalist offered resistance, on which the attackers subjected him to severe torture before fleeing the scene. The newsmen received several wounds.
It is reported that the land lord is facing numerous bonded-labour related cases in Sindh HIGH court.
