Journalist Khalil Malik thrashed by lawyers for writing analytical column
ISLAMABAD: Leading journalist and host of a private TV channel Khalil Malik received serious injuries after he was subjected to violence by the lawyers in the presence of additional session’s judge for writing an analytical column in a local news paper.
Khalil Malik had drawn up an analysis about lawyers which was published in a local newspaper. He was receiving persistent threats from the lawyers.
The lawyers had filed a case against Khalil Malik in a court of law for writing this analysis. The case was to be heard on Wednesday. Over 100 lawyers seized Khalil Malik during the hearing of the case in the court of additional sessions judge Rawalpindi, Chaudhry Imtiaz. The lawyers thrashed him mercilessly. Khalil Malik fell down after receiving serious injuries.
The judge called the SHO of the respective police station and sent Khalil Malik with him.
Khalil Malik told the journalists he in writing had asked the judge to provide protection to him as he was continuously receiving life threat from lawyers. But it was not done so.
He appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of the matter and bring the culprits to justice.
