ISLAMABAD – The government on Friday lodged an FIR (First Information Report) against two journalist organizations, staging protest demonstration against the imposition of emergency and curbs on media in the garb of Pemra Ordinance.

The FIR (No.354) has been filed at Aabpara police station here over the protest called by the PFUJ and the RIUJ on November 14 at Zero Point.

The two organizations protesting against curbs on media have been blamed for using derogatory language against the government in the speeches delivered by the office-bearers.

It is pertinent to mention that the Abpara Police have also lodged an FIR against Maulana Abdul Ghaffar, Khateeb of Lal Masjid, for misusing loudspeaker and delivering inflammatory speeches despite government ban.

However, Kaleem Imam, SSP federal capital, expressed his ignorance about the said two FIRs registered against two journalist organisations under section 188 and Khateeb of Lal Masjid under section 144.

Replying to a query the SSP said, “I do not know about such FIR and would take up the issue with the officials of Aabpara police station”.

Addressing the press conference, the SSP disclosed that Islamabad Police have traced two persons involved in the murder of a youth who was shot dead on October 10 here at sector G-10/1.According to police report, Yahya Iqbal, resident of Shahzad Town, went to meet his friend at Sector G-10 and parked the car outside the house.

When he was getting out of the car, two gunmen came to him and tried to snatch his mobile phone. Upon his resistance, the armed men shot him dead.

Following the incident, the SSP said, an investigation team headed by ASP Margalah police station and Station House Officer Margallah was constituted. The team arrested two persons identified as Muhammad Bilal s/o Sabit resident of A35/J PAF Complex Sector E-9 and Muhammad Asghar s/o Muhammad Zareef resident of Rawalpindi.

The accused have also confessed their involvement in 12 other robbery cases at various houses in sectors F-10, F-11, G-11, G-10, G-9 and G-8 and looting valuables worth million of rupees.

The Citizen Police Liaison Cell has been set up at Rescue 15 for redressing the complaints of citizens immediately. This center will have the jurisdiction to settle the domestic and monetary disputes, he informed.

The SSP asked the journalists and citizens to be the member of this cell so that friendly police environment could be ensured in Capital.
