Intel signs MoU for training

KARACHI- The Intel Pakistan Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Pakistan envisaging to train 13,000 teachers in IT by the end of 2002, the company announced here on Friday. Christian Morales, Vice-President and General Manager, Intel Asia Pacific and Dr Attaur Rehman, Minister for Science and Technology, signed the MoU on behalf of Intel and the government respectively. The Intel programme is designed to help teachers and students well versed in Internet and computer technology by making education entertaining and effective. The Intel will invest in funding equipment, curriculum development and programme management to train more than 13000 public and private school teachers in 13 cities including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Abbotabad, Faisalabad, Multan, Kohat, Gilgit, Sialkot and Gujranwala. Dr Ata said helping to harness the next generation’s ambition and enthusiasm for innovation, as well as fostering science, technology and engineering learning as a solid career foundation, is the key to Pakistan’s success.
