Indian journalists visit Business Recorder offices

KARACHI: Trade volume between Pakistan and India is expected to increase substantially following the beginning of a new era of bilateral relations between the two neighbouring South Asian countries.

These views were expressed by visiting Indian journalists during an interactive session with an editorial team of Business Recorder at the newspaper’s offices here on Friday.

The visiting journalists said most of the countries in different regions preferred trade with their neighbours.

But the situation in relation to India and Pakistan was quite different due to political disputes.

They said there was a potential to swiftly increase the trade volume between the two countries.

Prakash Akolkar, Chairman Mumbai Press Club and political editor of Sakaal, said that people from both sides wanted to improve relations, adding that media from both sides was playing a very important role in bringing the people of two countries closer.

The Indian journalists said they expected from the Pakistani parliament to okay federal cabinet’s decision to grant India the MFN status.

“It would be the beginning of a new era of relations between the two neighbouring countries,” they said.

Editor Business Recorder Wamiq A. Zuberi gave a brief account of country’s economy.

According to him, Pakistan’s economic situation is not as bad as portrayed.

Aaj TV’s Ahmad Aziz Zuberi and Shahab Zuberi were also present on the occasion.

President Karachi Press Club Tahir Hasan Khan and Secretary Musa Kaleem accompanied the Indian journalists’ delegation.
