Indian and Pakistani business women form JBC

KARACHI: Pakistani and Indian women entrepreneurs have formed a Joint Business Council (JBC) for the promotion of businesswomen, in this regard a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed. The MoU was signed between Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI), Pakistan and Federation of Indian Women Entrepreneurs (FIWE) in a press briefing at Karachi Press Club, here on Wednesday. Rajni Agarwal, President FIWE, outlined the objective and aims of the JBC and said the women of both the countries were suppressed and their participation in economic activities was very thin. The JBC of Pak-India women Entrepreneurship would promote women’s participation. She said, “we have agreed for annual exchange visits to update information.

” The publication of a monthly newsletter and an annual women entrepreneurs directory, starting with the two countries and expanding to include Saarc countries, she said. The women entrepreneurs of both the countries would identify projects where technology could be exchanged by either country for the benefit of businesswomen, Agarwal said. Joint training programmes for the new entrepreneurs in both the countries would be arranged by the JBC, she said. Agarwal said “we will work towards development of peace and prosperity in both the countries.” She said the JBC would promote a separate women’s chambers of commerce in both the countries. “The JBC to support the formation of a ‘Saarc Women Council for Trade and Business Development’ to function as part of the main Saarc body,” she said
