Govt asked to release newsman

PESHAWAR – The journalist community from all over NWFP and adjacent tribal areas concerned over the arrest of Malik Mohammad Anwar, a journalist from South Waziristan Agency, under FCR.

Mr. Hayatullah, central Secretary General of Tribal Union of Journalists, Awar Din Mehsud, TUJ South Waziristan President, Allah Noor Wazir, joint secretary, Sher Khan Afridi from Khyber Agency, and others through separate Press statements while expressing concern over arrest of Malik Anwar demanded his early release.

The tribal journalists have also called upon President and governor to direct the administration of all agencies to refrain themselves of arresting the tribal journalists.

On the other hand, Sajjad Haider, President, and Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, General Secretary of Khyber Union of Journalist, have also expressed concern over arrest of Malik Mohammad Anwar. Through a press statement issued here at Peshawar on May 29, the Kh.UJ office-bearers said that arrest of journalists under FCR is not new as Sami Yousafzai is a victim of it since April 21.
