APP adds: Rehman Malik, talking to the media after visiting the residence of Lt Yasir Abbas Shaheed, in Lahore, said: “No single political party but parliament is to be credited with the constitution of the independent commission on the Abbottabad incident.” He urged the political parties to play their vital role in fostering harmony in the country by setting aside their differences.

Malik said that the Taliban had apparently intensified their activities against Pakistan after the killing of Osama bin Laden. The minister hinted at joint operations with the US against high-value operations in future inside the Pakistani territory.

He also announced a cash prize of Rs05 million for providing information about the PNS Mehran base assailants. Earlier, the interior minister visited the residence of PNS Mehran Base martyr Lt Yasir Abbas to condole with his family.

SANA adds: Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that according to parliament’s resolution, the inquiry commission (IC) will be constituted to probe the Abbottabad operation in a day or two; however, he advised the politicians not to use the issue for point-scoring.

Malik said that parliament had unanimously passed the resolution for the constitution of the commission, and the credit will not go to any single party, adding that members of all the political parties were included in the passage of the resolution.

Rehman Malik asked PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif not to take credit for the constitution of the commission, adding that he respected the PML-N Quaid, who was a national leader.

He said that it was the duty of the government to implement all the resolutions passed by parliament, adding that not only the PPP and the PML-N but also members of all parties had unanimously passed the resolution in parliament.

The interior minister has termed the Abbottabad operation as a national carnage and said that political parties should not use the issue for political point-scoring, adding that the credit did not go to any single political party, but it goes to all the members of parliament.
