Foreign newsmen warned against violating code

ISLAMABAD- PakistanÂ’s Foreign Office has warned journalists, especially the foreigners now covering the Anglo-American operations against Afghanistan, with action if they violated its consular regulations.

Addressing his daily briefing the Foreign Office spokesman said that the Afghan authorities had arrested within their territory four journalists for entering their country with proper documents.

Two of these were French and the two others were their Pakistani escorts, he said and added that he wished to caution all foreign journalists that if such acts were repeated, the government would cancel their visas and would take action against their sponsoring agencies.

He regretted that some foreigners had been found misusing the facility provided by the government and were found around restricted areas. This behaviour, he warned, was not acceptable and would incur action against them.

He said no government in the world accepts such conduct and wants to observe the consular code.
