Foreign mediamen arrive to cover polls

ISLAMABAD- A large number of foreign mediamen have arrived in Pakistan to cover the activities of the general elections being held on 10th October 2002.

According to the officials of the Press Information Department (PID) as many as 100 newsmen representing various international media organisations have already applied for the special identity cards for the Election coverage.

These journalists belong to Cable News Network (CNN), British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Associated Press Television Network (APTN), Tokyo, Broadcasting Corporation, Abudhabi Television, New York Times, Star Focus Asia and many other reputed international media organisations.

Some of these organisations have sent their senior reporting teams to cover this special event.

The External Publicity Wing (EPW) of PID has taken special measures to facilitate these journalist, in their jobs. It will offer transportations for five different areas to these journalists including Gujar Khan, Pindi Ghaib, Taxila, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
