Faisal Iqbal undergoes cardiac surgery

KARACHI- Veteran newspaper editor and former president of the Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE) Syed Fasieh Iqbal underwent a successful cardiac surgery on May 26, 2003 at the Rahman Medical Centre in Peshawar city where Dr Rahman, a well known cardiac surgeon, performed the bypass operation.

Syed Fasieh Iqbal’s condition is stable and he is now in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital where he will be kept under observation for the next 48 hours, and than he will be shifted to the room reserved for him.

Syed Fasieh Iqbal developed cardiac pain two days ago and was admitted to the Rahman Medical Centre, Peshawar, on May 25, 2003 morning.

After complete diagnosis of his condition, Surgeon Rahman decided that a bye-pass operation was necessary since three of the arteries of Syed Faisal Iqbal were blocked. The operation was performed by Surgeon Rahman on May 26, 2003 morning at the hospital and was successful.

CPNE President Mujibur Rahman Shami and Secretary-General Mahmudul Aziz, in a statement, expressed their happiness over the successful heart bye-pass surgery of Syed Faisal Iqbal, and prayed for his complete recovery at the earliest.

Mujibur Rahman Shami and Mahmudul Aziz also appealed to all members of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors to pray for the swift recovery of Faisal Iqbal, the Chief Editor of the Balochistan Times and Zamana dailies of Quetta and a senior member of the Standing Committee of the CPNE.
