District government blamed for halting rural uplift projects

HYDERABAD: The public representatives of Taluka Qasimabad held the District Government Hyderabad responsible for not carrying out development work in rural Talukas of the district.

Addressing a news conference here at Hyderabad Press Taluka Naib Nazim Qasimabad Haider Shahani and Nazims of the Unions Councils Ali Hassan jatoi, Yamin Soomro, Imam Ali Ansari and others alleged that an amount of Rs.6 billion is being spent for the completion of development works in Hyderabad City and Latifabad Talukas, but no the authorities concerned have ignored the development of Qasimabad and Hyderabad Rural Talukas of the district.

As a result of such step motherly attitude of the District Government, unrest is being prevailed among the residents of both the rural Talukas of the districts and now they are realising that apprehensions at the time of bifurcation of Hyderabad district regarding discriminatory attitude was right.

They expressed Sears that the attitude of the District Government could create confrontation among the people as the mandate given to the elected representatives of the two rural talukas was not being respected accordingly.

They said that without taking in to confidence, the District Government has handed over the Niaz Stadium to Pakistan Cricket Board, which was the property of Taluka Qasimabad.

About the construction of 5­Star hotel, they said that the Taluka Administration has no objection on it, but Taluka Municipal Administration should be given right of negotiations with authorities concerned as the plot of the hotel proposed for construction of hotel is the property of Taluka Qasimabad.

About the development of Rani Bagh they said that the work has been suspended as the District Government had released only Rs.400,000 /-against Rs.80 millions, which floated 8 months back for the development of biggest rec­reational spot of Hyderabad.

They also criticised the attitude of the district government, the convener of the Qasimabad council demanded that development funds should be released forth with and the pace of work should be accelerated.

About Hyderabad Development Package, they said that the President and Prime Minister and Governor Sindh announced development packages on different occasions for entire district of Hyderabad and the share of Qasimabad taluka comes to Rs2.27 billion, but the District Government did not handover this amount to the Taluka Municipal Administration to carry out development in the Taluka. Similarly, they said that the Hyderabad Rural Taluka was also being ignored.

They said that the infrastructure of Qasimabad, specially roads and drainage system have been destroyed while Both Qasimabad and Hyderabad Rural Talukas of the district had suffered a lot during last year’s rains.

They demanded of the government to release Rs.50 million with out any loss of time to carry out development works in Qasimabad Taluka.

They informed that a seminar will be held on next Sunday to discuss the problems of the two talukas and a strategy will be chalked out to launch a protest movement against the discriminatory attitude of the district government.
