LAHORE: Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of the Lahore High Court on Monday directed the federal and Punjab governments to file details of seats filled in all departments on two percent quota for special persons.
The inspector general of Punjab police also informed that the SHO and ASI concerned were suspended for torture on visually impaired members of the Pakistan Association of Blind by the local police. The judge also directed both the governments to file till December 24 reports as to how many seats so far filled in this statutory quota. The judge issued the directions while hearing a petition of Judicial Activism Panel Chairman Azhar Siddique advocate. He submitted that the police baton-charge on special persons who had taken a peaceful rally was not only cognisable offence under Pakistan Penal Code but violation of article 9, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 37 and 38 of the constitution.
