Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors Standing Committee meets on January 7

KARACHI- The Standing Committee of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) will meet in Karachi on January 7 at 11.00 am at Avari Tower under the chairmanship of CPNE President Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami.

Agenda for meeting includes review of government press relationship and recent ordinances relating to Press and Freedom of Information. The meeting will also finalise arrangements for CPNE annual function at which Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali will be the chief guest.

General Secretary CPNE Mohammed-ul-Aziz said in a statement that the Standing Committee will also consider formation of committees in all four provinces of the country for scrutiny and recommendation of new membership applications. He has requested all members of the Standing Committee and former presidents to attend the meeting.

The CPNE has also decided to invite all former presidents of CPNE to its Standing Committee’s meetings to recognise and honour their contribution to strengthening of CPNE as the sole representative body of newspapers editors of Pakistan.
