Commission seeks record of Saleem Shahzad’s e-mails

ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission, probing the death of Saleem Shahzad, has written a letter to a foreign company, seeking complete record of Shahzad’s E-mails.

The commission also summoned Najam Sethi, Naseem Zehra, Mehar Bukhari and Tahir Ali today (Wednesday) for recording their statements in the matter.

A commission’s meeting was held under the chair of Justice Saqib Nisar, and was participated by Federal Shariat Court Chief Justice Agha Rafiq, Inspector General of Islamabad Police Bani Amin, Punjab Inspector General (IG) of police Javed Iqbal and Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists President Pervaiz Shaukat on Tuesday.

The commission examined the record of CCTV footage, submitted by the National Highway Authority (NHA).

Senior journalist Hamid Mir recorded his statement before the commission and presented a CD regarding the matter. The commission will consider this CD today (Wednesday).

Meanwhile, Zafar Sheikh, close friend of Saleem Shahzad and a Margallah Police Station Sub-Inspector Shafiq have also recorded their statements before the commission.

The commission was again informed that Saleem Shahzad’s laptop and mobile phone still had not been recovered.

The commission also summoned Shafiq and Raja Nisar, who had recovered the Shahazad’s body from Mandi Bahauddin.
