Chiefs of district Bars, Press clubs allowed to inspect lockups
MULTAN- The Punjab government has reportedly empowered the presidents of high court and district bar associations, and press clubs to inspect police stations and their lockups.
It is learnt that they would be authorized to inquire about the arrest and detention of any person or non-registration of any case. In case of any lapse, they would inform the higher authorities that action could be taken against the police official responsible.
The government has collected names and addresses of newly elected presidents of these associations for notifications.
