Canadian keen to invest in IT

ISLAMABAD – A group of Canadian businessmen currently visiting Pakistan on May 11 expressed their keen interest in investing in the telecom and information technology sectors in the country.

“We are encouraged by the liberal investor-friendly policies introduced by the government,” Stewart Hall, President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, told IT secretary Khalid Saeed.

Mr. Hall, who was accompanied by Shariq Qureshi, Vice- President Stretegitec, and Shameem Qureshi, President Milcon Gulf Group, commended the recent strides made by Pakistan in the telecom sector which reflected the confidence of the investors in the potential of the market.

The Canadian businessmen were keen to start their business operations very early in Pakistan to participate in the growth of IT sector, he stated.

The IT secretary while appreciating the interest shown by the visitors in the developments in Pakistan said the government was actively encouraging private-public partnerships and that there were plenty of opportunities for the Canadian businessmen to benefit from the incentives and opportunities this country offered.
