Canada seeks entries for journalist awards
ISLAMABAD: Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ross Hynes on Tuesday announced ‘Canadian Award’ for Pakistani journalists for their contribution in national interest.
Briefing the media during his visit to the National Press Club (NPC) on Tuesday, the ambassador said these Canadian awards had been allocated for journalists belonging to English and Urdu print, electronic networks – radio and television. He elaborated that the Canadian High Commission had designed these awards with the consultation of eminent Pakistani journalists for those who worked on the issues of public interest and played a vital role in upholding democracy.
“The Canadian High Commission with the jury of these eminent journalists will judge the applications to select the winners for the awards,” he added. He said the closing date for the application had been set April 13. NPC President Farooq Faisal discussed concern of photo journalists with the ambassador to expand these awards for photo journalists as well.
