Cable operators warned
KARACHI- The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has directed all cable TV operators to get their licenses renewed by May 10.
Issuing a final notice, the PEMRA said on April 18, 2003 that operating cable TV business without renewal of the licenses was a violation of the PEMRA Ordinance.
Under article-33 of PEMRA Ordinance, a person who does not hold a valid license, commits a violation of the ordinance which is punishable with an imprisonment for a term which may extend to four years or with fine up to Rs. 1 million, or with both, in addition to the confiscation of the equipment used in the commissioning of the act.
