Body to evolve consensus on Hudood Laws: Durrani
ISLAMABAD, Aug 04 2006: Federal Information Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani has said that the cabinet committee on Hadood Laws would highlight the positive aspects of the law to develop consensus. The meeting was chaired by Law Minister Wasi Zafar and attended by Information Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani, Women Development Minister Sumaira Mali and Tourism Minister Nelofar Bakhtiar. Briefing the media persons, Muhammad Ali Durrani said the government aims at ensuring the basic rights of the women and the Bill was a part of this commitment.
He said the meeting discussed in detail a strategy to apprise the parliamentarians of the Bill to win their support for its passage. He said they would also consult the opposition parties to evolve a consensus on the matter.
