All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) adopts package drafts of ad reforms

KARACHI- The APNS executive committee has adopted the package drafts of the constitutional and advertising reforms prepared by its secretariat, stated a press release of the APNS.

Mohammad Aslam Kazi, acting Secretary-General of the APNS has announced the decisions of the executive committee held at Karachi under the chairmanship of its president, Hameed Haroon.

The executive committee considered the five drafts on constitutional and advertising reforms prepared by the secretariat and after threadbare discussion, it decided to adopt the drafts rules for bifurcation of advertising accounts, draft amendments to rules for accreditation, draft violation rules, draft amendment to the articles of association. The recommended drafts will be very soon placed before the extra-ordinary general council of the society for approval.

The executive committee also adopted the draft rules for registration and conduct of media buying houses in principle and formed a committee under the president APNS, comprising Arif Nizami, Zia Shahid, Arshad A. Zuberi, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman Shami, Syed Fasih Iqbal, Mohammad Aslam Kazi, Syed Sarmad Ali, Mumtaz A. Tahir, Jamil Athar and Dr Jabbar Khattak to give a final format to the draft in consultation with advertising agencies.

The executive committee also considered the report of the acting Secretary General on the conduct of advertising agencies and decided to disaccredit the following advertising agencies on their consistent default towards the long outstanding dues of member publications:

Adage Advertising, Islamabad. Director, Rahat Malik; Adko Advertising, Karachi, Directors: Imran Chughtai, Saeeda Chughtai; Crescent Publicity Services, Lahore. Partners: Abdul Qayyum Sheikh, Azhar Qayyum Sheikh, Asad Qayyum Sheikh; Kays Advertising & Studio, Karachi. Directors: Lutfullah Khan, Nasrullah Khan; Umar Advertising, Lahore. Partners: Shehzad Mahmood, Abdul Rab Sajid.

The Executive Committee also advised the member publications to take legal recourse for recovery of their dues against the above-disaccredited agencies. The executive committee granted provisional accreditation to ClickArt Communication, Islamabad. It also considered the applications for associate membership and approved grant of associate membership to Khabrain Karachi, Lashkar Quetta, Bakhabar Quetta, Mashriq Hub, Intekhab Hub, Balochistan News Quetta, Koshish Hyderabad, Shaam Hyderabad and Dawn Islamabad.
