Action against govt officials for talking to media
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to take legal action under the Service Contract Rules 1964 against those government officers who appear in the media without permission.
The Establishment Division has formally issued an office memorandum in this regard to all ministries and divisions. In the memorandum, it is stated that it was brought into the notice that some government officers appeared in the media without permission and took part in debates, which was against the rules.
Therefore, it is mandatory for all officers to abide by the rules, and do not take part in any activity without prior permission from the concerned authority, it said. It added that they are allowed to participate in certain relevant activities. The ministries and divisions are informed that legal action would be taken against any government officer who appears in the media without prior permission.
