‘Pillion riding ban, violation of human rights’
KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Chief Muhammad Hussain Mehanti has termed the pillion riding ban, an unjustified act and violation of human rights.
He expressed these views while meeting with different delegations at Idara-e-Noor Haq here on Monday.
During the meeting, JI Karachi Chief demanded the judiciary to issue order regarding the cancellation of notification in connection with ban on pillion riding.
“Six million people are affected on a daily basis due to imposition of ban on pillion riding and commuters are forced to travel on the roof and foot stands of public buses, which is also dangerous for them,” he added. The government and LEAs instead of controlling crimes and target killings, imposed a ban on pillion riding, which directly affects the poor and middle classes, he said.
