Nadra Smart Card

This is with reference to a recent advertisement by Nadra in the newspapers asking for suggestions regarding its proposed plan to distribute pension through the Nadra Smart Cards. The idea is very good. But apart from its “e-sahulat” kiosks, I suggest that Nadra consult with all scheduled banks to accept the Smart Card as an ATM card for drawing pension. This will help the elderly and sick pensioners who can’t go to a bank every month to collect their pension.
Besides, if it is given the status of an ATM card, the Smart Card will enable pensioners to use it any time of the day, not only during banking hours. The existing bank facilities for collection of pension should continue, however, because many pensioners live in remote areas where ATM is not available.
