CD shop blown up in Mardan

MARDAN: A Compact Disc (CD) shop was blown up in Muslimabad in the limits of Par Hoti Police Station here Sunday, sources said. The sources said that unidentified persons had planted explosives near the shop located in the Duranabad Chowk on the Mardan-Swabi road. The explosives went off at around 04:30am and caused damage to the shop. A television set, computer, music CDs and other equipment were damaged in the blast. However, no loss of life was reported in the explosion.

The police reached the spot and collected pieces of evidence. A search operation was also carried out by the police in the nearby areas, but no arrest was made. A case was registered against unknown people on the complaint of the owner of the shop, Luqman. The district administration had beefed up the security in Mardan as Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti was to inaugurate uplift projects in the district. But despite the strict security arrangements, the militants succeeded in blowing up the CD shop.
