FBR chairman lauds role of Jang Group, Geo

ISLAMABAD: Federal Bureau of Revenue Chairman Salman Siddique, Member Inland Revenue Khawar Khurshid Butt and Member Custom Mumtaz Haider Rizvi have praised the positive role of the Jang Group and Geo TV in helping the FBR achieve its annual revenue target.

Addressing an emergency press conference here on Thursday night, FBR Chairman Salman Siddique especially lauded the role of Geo TV in assisting the FBR getting the annual target of Rs1588 billion.

Speaking on the occasion, FBR Member of Directorate Tax General Sales Tax Federal Excise Duty (Inland Revenue) Khawar Khurshid Butt said the Jang Group and Geo News had published and broadcasted free of cost ads regarding the submission of tax returns in the best interest of the country and nation.

He said Jang Group newspapers, The News and Daily Jang, regularly published the FBR messages in the form of the news stories. He praised and congratulated the Jang Group and Geo TV for rendering valuable services for sake of the nation and the country.

Speaking on the occasion, FBR Member Custom Mumtaz Haider Rizvi praised the ads broadcasted by Geo TV in which a passenger bus had broken down and only two passengers were pushing the bus while other 80 were sitting inside the bus without any concern and worry.

Through this ad, the whole nation had been told that if only two per cent people would deposit their tax returns and other 98 per cent didn’t bother to pay their taxes, the bus of Pakistan would never reach its destination, he added.

He said that the role of Geo TV and Jang Group was really praiseworthy as it had helped the FBR achieve its annual revenue target of Rs1588 billion. He said that it was a matter of pleasure that Geo TV had broadcasted long duration programme, the Great Debate, and ads regarding submission of tax returns free of cost.

By publishing the news stories based on facts regarding the FBR annual target during the whole of month of June, The News and Daily Jang had not only served the FBR but also the whole nation, the FBR official added. He said that Rs184 billion had been collected in the head of custom duty target with an addition of Rs12 billion.
