Zainab Bhayo case: Suspects charged with gang rape bailed
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) granted interim bail of one week to three alleged accused girls Tehreen, Nayab and Firasat in Zainab Bhayo gang rape case against surety bonds of Rs 100,000 each.
Dr Ameen Bhayo, uncle of the victim, had registered a first information report at Khipro police station of a gang rape and nominated the three girls along with Waseem, Sohail, Danish and Jahanzeb. He stated that Zainab Bhayo, resident of Khipro, Sanghar district, student of class IX, was invited by the girls for a get together at their place, where she was given sweets to eat.
She fell unconscious when she ate them and after coming to her senses realised that she had been raped. He added that the culprits also made a video recording of their act and uploaded it on several Internet sites including YouTube. The accused Jahanzeb and Danish can be identified from the video, he informed.
Justice Tufail H Ebrahim granted the bail and issued notices to the respondents for October 22.
The appellant girls had filed an application for the extension of protection bail at the SHC through their counsel Haq Nawaz Talpur and the application was produced before SHC Chief Justice, Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany, who transferred the case to Justice Ebrahim’s bench.
SHC Hyderabad bench had granted the protection bail of girls and directed them to appear before the district and sessions judge concerned for confirmation of the bail and further proceedings. asghar azad
