Wassan, IGP Sindh take notice of Jirga’s death sentence to two women

SUKKUR: The home minister as well as the IGP Sindh took serious notice of a Jirga which announced a death sentence to the two kidnapped women after declaring them Kari.

Home Minister Sindh Manzoor Hussain Wassan, as well as the IGP Sindh, took notice of the media reports and summoned SSP Shikarpur by issuing him a show-cause notice. Wasan appointed SSP Larkana Aitzaz Ahmed to probe the incident and recover the other woman. The News learnt that Ajeeba and Khursheed Begum Shar along with two children Ikhtiar Ali and Aitbar Ali of Dur Muhammad Shar village of Shikarpur district, were allegedly kidnapped by unidentified men.

Both the women retuned after 12 hours following the intervention of an influential of the area. Later, influentials of the Shar tribe held a Jirga to decide their fate where they declared both women Kari and announced a death sentence to them. Following the decision of the Jirga, Ajeeba Shar was shot dead on the spot and her body was thrown into a canal. The other alleged Kari woman was held confined at some undisclosed place.
