DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA: This is with reference to Yaqoob Khan Bangash’s article published on February 25 “War on culture”. I believe that there is no war of cultures. Things have been moving towards ensuring human rights and equality for all. And if a foreign culture does that better, there is no harm in changing to ‘their’ ways.

We see many countries that have multicultural societies and respect all cultures. It is time we made an effort to do the same instead of crying foul. While nobody is forcing us to change, we have a choice to make: either persist with the old ways or move towards the 21st century. The bottom line is that respect and tolerance must be accorded to all.
