Veteran journalist passes away

HYDERABAD (March 22 2007): Veteran journalist Saleem Qureshi passed away here on Wednesday evening. He was 82.

Qureshi, a former secretary of Hyderabad Press Club, was suffering from kidney problem for the last two years and was under treatment of Dr Adeebul Hasan Rizvi. A few months back he received an attack of paralysis.

During his 57-year journalistic career, Qureshi worked for Pakistan Times in Islamabad, Quetta and Hyderabad as bureau chief. On retirement from Pakistan Times after 36 years of service he worked for Pakistan Observer and Financial Post.

He lived the life as a working journalist till his last breath.

He left behind a widow, five sons and four daughters to mourn his death. Saleem Qureshi’s funeral procession will be taken out from his residence located in Latifabad No 11 at 10am on Thursday and he will be laid to rest in Bhatti Goth Graveyard in Phuleli.
