UMERKOT – journalists expressed grave concern and condemned the statement of Secretary Election Commissioner with regard to bounding the journalists in limits during election coverage, here today.

Musawir Shahid Senior Network Coordinator and journalists Allah Bux Arisir, Parshotam Khatri, Walli Muhammad Maher, Bhagwan Das Khatri said that statement of Secretary Election Commissioner with regard to bounding the journalists in limits during election coverage, have created doubts against holding transparent, free and fair election, they were speaking in a workshop “Covering the Elections” organized by Pakistan Press Foundation. In the workshop Musawir Shahid delivered lecture on reporting the election, he further told that positive journalism can bring a change in the society, adding that neutral write-up, survey can play a positive role for electing a suitable candidate by the masses, as journalists are the voice and tongue of nation. A large number of journalists through out district attended the workshop.

Protest demonstration was held in the leadership of Khalid Hussain Mangrio, protesters carrying banners and placard chanted slogans “Stop Political
Interference”,” stop violation of merit”, “issue posting orders”.

Speaking on the occasion Nasir Karim Rind, Dileep Kumar kalal and Muhammad Ali Maher called upon the concerned authorities to issue posting orders to succeed candidates up to 24 December, in order to cool the anarchy front the jobless youth. Participants warned that if up to Eid their demands will not meet then circle of protest W0Ltld be enlarged.

They vowed to protest in front of nominated candidates who will visit them for votes.

On this occasion the then president of PTA Abdul Haque Unar, social activist Abdullah Kkoso, Ghulam Mustafa Khoso and Ishauqe Saand of Sami Sujag Sangat expressed solidarity with the protestors.
