Two foreign journalists detained for straying into Pakistan

MIRANSHAH- Pakistani border guards have detained two journalists –an American and another Australian–, after they tried to enter Pakistan from the neighbouring Khost province of Afghanistan, officials.

The journalists’ interpreter, guard and driver, all Afghans, have also been detained, border control officials said in Miranshah, which borders Afghanistan’s eastern Khost province.

The journalists, apparently travelling without valid documents to enter Pakistan, were intercepted at the Ghulam Khan border post, on the Pakistani side.

They told officials at the Ghulam Khan post that they had no intention to enter Pakistan but had lost their way.

The American, Robert Nixon Burt, works for the Time magazine. It was not known with what organisation the Australian, Simon Orion, was associated with.
