TV journalist kidnapped

NAWABSHAH: A reporter of a private TV channel went missing near Gullan water stop Gupchhani on Saturday and his relatives fear he might have been kidnapped.

Wahid Khokhar, a local reporter of Sindh TV and Daily Ibrat, when he was returning home from Nawabshah. Police have found his motorcycle abandoned at the place the water stop.

SPO Aijaz Ali Memon said that the police were not sure about the kidnapping. They were investigating his disappearance from all angles, he said.

Wahid Khokhar’s son Abdul Rehman said that they had no enmity with any one.

Jeevan Ali, nephew of the hostage, said that they had been receving threats over mobile phone since they foiled a motorcycle-snatching bid a couple of days ago and held criminals.

Later, a large number of people including Khokhar’s family members blocked Nawabshah-Sanghar road and held a demonstration outside Gupchhani police station, demanding recovery of the journalist at the earliest.

Office-bearers of the press club also expressed concern over increase in crime rate in the district and condemned kidnapping of their colleague.

DPO Rukhsar Ahmed Khuhawar assured the journalists that police were making efforts to recover the hostage at the earliest.
