TV channel’s reporter abducted

LAHORE, April 8: Four unidentified people allegedly kidnapped an electronic media journalist from Nawankot on Sunday night.

Islam, a cameraman of Labaik TV channel, told this reporter by phone that he, along with crime reporter Irfan Khalid, came out of a plaza after meeting somebody at a newspaper office. “No sooner had we reached the road than a car stopped near us and four armed men came out of the vehicle.

One of them slapped me and others dragged Irfan into the vehicle at gunpoint and sped away,” he said.

Islam, who did not know who the kidnappers were, said he could not recognise the number of the vehicle but immediately informed emergency 15 police.

Later, he moved an application to the Nawankot police. Irfan is a resident of Township and works for the Labaik TV channel at JBlock in Gulberg.

The Nawankot police, when contacted, said the SHO had rushed to the spot after receiving a 15 call.
