Tribunal to hear newspapers workers’ cases

ISLAMABAD- The implementation Tribunal for Newspaper Employees presided over by Mr Justice Jawaid Nawaz Khan Gandapur, is presently on tour to Peshawar on hearing case of the newspapers employees and the newspaper owners.

Tribunal will hold court at its Peshawar Circuit till 22nd March, 2003. Twenty cases are on the cause list of the Tribunal.

In eight cases relating to daily The Frontier Post, Peshawar, the respondents being absent, non-bailable warrants of arrest were ordered to be issued against the respondent management.

One complaint against the management of daily the Maidan, Peshawar, was dismissed in default.

In four cases of Daily the Maidan, Peshawar, filed by the employees against the newspaper, on request of the respondent management the Tribunal accepting their request for payment of arrears in installments, ordered accordingly.

In a case relating to Daily Subh, Peshawar, the management of the newspaper issued four letters of appointment to its two computer operators, an Art Editor and a sub-Editor, in accordance with the provision of Section 3 of the Newspaper Employees (Conditions of Service) Act 1973.
