Tribal journalist warns fellows against visiting US Consulate
PESHAWAR: President of the Tribal Union of Journalists North Waziristan Agency chapter Noor Behram on Tuesday warned the fellow tribal journalists to refrain from visiting the US Consulate in Peshawar.
In a statement, he said the US Consulate in Peshawar was inviting tribal journalists in order to get knowledge about the military operation. He said any tribal journalist who violated his directive and visited the US Consulate will be expelled from the Union.
He said he received a phone call from the US Consulate in Peshawar to visit them as the Consul General wanted to talk with him about the ongoing operation in the NWA. He said when he refused to oblige, he was told that three other local journalists were prepared to give briefing to the US Consul General on the operation. He said the US was in the search of another Dr Shakil Afridi. He also appealed to the political leaders to abstain from visiting US Consulate and briefing them about the operation.
