Tribal journalist among five killed in roadside bomb blast
Five people, including the vice president of Pakistan’s Tribal Union of Journalist (TUJ), were killed on June 2 when the vehicle they were travelling in was blown up by a roadside improvised explosive device possibly detonated by remote control device.
The bomb blast occurred as Noor ul Hakeem, correspondent of Urdu language daily “Pakistan” was returning from a Tribal Jirga (Court) in Khar, the headquarters of the Bajor Agency in Pakistan’s the restive tribal areas bordering Afghanistan that is a flashpoint in the ongoing conflict between local tribes, Taliban, al-Qaeda and Pakistani security forces. Others killed included the Tehsildar (head of the local administration), a tribal chief and his son, and a paramilitary soldier.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
