Three women killed over rejecting marriage offer

LARKANA: A woman and her two young daughters died when armed men opened fire on them while they were sleeping in their house in Umar Bhayo village in Garillo.

Another daughter of the woman suffered bullet injuries and has been admitted in the Chandka Medical College Hospital.

The incident is said to have been caused by a dispute over a marriage proposal.

The assailants entered into the house of Nawab Ali Abro and opened fire. Ms Zareena, 45 and her daughters Sanam, 22, and Samreen, 23, died on the spot and Shaheen, 24, was injured.

According to information collected by this correspondent, the family had rejected a proposal by a man named Manthar Abro to marry Shaheen.

Police have accused Ghulam Haidar, Manthar and Rano of killing the woman and her daughters. Ghulam Haidar, according to police record, had kidnapped Abdul Hakeem Jatoi and Zakaullah Meo Rajput in 2009 and was sentenced to life imprisonment by a court. He had recently been released from jail, police said. Manthar Abro was an absconder with Rs5million head money, police said.

Bodies of the women were handed over to the family after autopsy but police did not register registered an FIR till late Sunday evening.
