The Karachi Press Club (KPC) organised the annual Independence Day ‘Mehfil-e-Nishat’ (musical night) on Saturday for its members and their families. The event could not be held on August 14 this year because heavy rains had flooded roads and created havoc in the city.
Programmes for children were also organized. These included rides, puppet shows, and gift schemes through balloting. The show was well-attended by KPC members, who enjoyed the event which continued till the wee hours of Sunday. Shaziz Khushk, Naeem Abbas Sufi, Saleem Javed, Nazneen, Irfan Malik, and Shakil Siddiqui were among the performers. Six prizes were also given to the KPC members through balloting. The prizes ranged from Umra tickets, roundtrip air fares for Karachi-Dubai and Karachi-Islamabad, as well as colour TVs, etc.
The governing body of the KPC, have organised a number of programmes during their tenure, including Mehfil-e-Sama and Mehfil-e-Ghazal, and Qawwali during the month of Ramadan.
