Talks with India to check human trafficking successful: Rangers DG

NAWABSHAH: Rangers Director-General Lt-Gen Javed Zia has said a successful round of talks was held with India to stop human trafficking on either side of the border.

He was talking to newsmen after inaugurating a water filtration plant installed by the Rangers at Taj Colony here on Monday. District Nazim Dr Faryal Talpur, DCO Abdul Razzaq Qureshi and DPO Dr Ghulam Sarwer Jamali were also present on the occasion.

The Rangers director-general said India had accepted the Pakistani instance on the abduction of fishermen holding Pak nationality. He said India was also appraised about the Pakistani position over the oil drilling near the disputed area of Rann of Khutch, adding India had assured that there would be no border violation in future.

Regarding law and order situation in Sindh and Balochistan, Lt-Gen Javed Zia noted that improvement was witnessed in maintaining law and order, as incidents of blowing up gas pipelines and government installations in Balochistan had come down considerably.

He said the law and order situation in Sindh was better now; however, he deplored incidents of murders due to tribal clashes. He proposed that tribal disputes should be settled at the local level. He said Rangers have played a vital role in controlling linguistic and sectarian incidents in Sindh on occasions such as Muharram and Ramazan.

He also cited Khipro, Deplo, Chhore and other border towns where Rangers have established schools, hospitals and water filtration plants. He said Rangers were also taking interest in the development of sports and it has made a team of boxers in Lyari.
