Stop banning media, Altaf tells rulers
LAHORE: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has asked the rulers to give up imposing announced or unannounced ban on media, says a party press release.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the MQM office in Lahore, he said media whether it is electronic or print has rendered great service in creating awareness among the masses. “I, therefore, ask the rulers to stop imposing announced or unannounced ban on media.” He said journalists, anchorpersons, writers and intellectuals must not be intimidated. He also appealed to the media not to publish any news without verification. He said after coming into power the MQM would compensate against excesses committed against media.
