SSF honours health journalists

Karachi: Friday evening saw a reception organised by the Social Students Forum (SSF) to honour the health journalists who received an award by the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) last month in Islamabad.

The chief guests, who included Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Adviser to the Prime Minister for Textile and Malik Khuda Buksh, former President of the Rotary Club, were ironically on time. However, the health journalists who were being honoured were conspicuous by their absence.

Speaking at the event Nafis Ahmed Khan, the chairman and founder of SSF said that with the increase in reporting, the inadequacies of the state were being highlighted.

Baig, who is also the chief patron of the SSF appreciated the work of the journalists and reiterated the points made by the chairman that in order to bring change systemic changes are needed, which will take time to implement properly.

SSF, formed at the University of Karachi (KU), has been working for the welfare of public health and education for the past 22 years.
